Meet Elena & Rachel of Bodega Wellness in Burlington.
What was the inspiration behind Bodega Wellness?
CBD (cannabidiol) has played a huge role in our personal lives, helping us and our immediate families to battle things like depression, anxiety, severe back pain, gut inflammation, arthritis etc. The inspiration behind Bodega is simply to help people, to heal the community with ancient plant based medicine as opposed to chemicals. It is, after all, an all natural hemp derived product.
What are some of the benefits of CBD? Are there any risks?
The type of Hemp derived CBD that we sell is non-psychoactive, as it does not contain any THC. All our products are made from Co2 extracted CBD (it is a far more costly method but the result is considerably better than CBD that’s extracted using ethanol, butane, propane, isopropyl, or alcohol). All of our products meet anti-doping agency standards. Humans have an endocannabinoid system that looks a bit like our nervous system. This system requires CBD to function – so our bodies are designed to consume CBD. It’s good for us. It is extremely anti-inflammatory, and can be used as a seizure preventative or a neuroprotective for Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and stroke. It can provide pain relief for arthritis, chronic pain, MS pain, muscle pain & spinal cord injuries. It is anti-acne and it’s also used in cancer treatment (The National Cancer Institute Trusted Source (NCI) says that CBD may help alleviate cancer symptoms and cancer treatment side effects). Overall, we consider it a natural supplement that’s safe for adults, children and pets.
What is your favourite thing about being an entrepreneur?
We believe it’s important to do something you believe in. We have been entrepreneurs for the past 10 years, and it sure comes with ups and downs! We both have young daughters that look up to us, and we hope to be good role models to them.
Why Downtown Burlington?
We absolutely love the community. We have been treated with nothing but love and support. It is full of amazing people and businesses. The sense of community is very much present here. Elena also lives here.
