If you’re looking for authentic Tuscan-style sandwiches, look no further. Run by husband and wife duo in Kerr Village – Sandwich Society is delizioso. Made with freshly baked bread every morning, this shop offers unique sandwiches made with a variety of fresh ingredients from the “Raphael” made with capocollo, truffle pecorino cream, stracchino, and arugula to the “David” made with prosciutto, truffle pecorino cream (this cream, folks – it’s the real deal), mozzarella, tomato, and fresh basil.

Run, don’t walk to Sandwich Society.

Big Wolf’s Deli Sandwiches, Oakville

Are you hungry like the wolf? Big Wolf’s Deli serves classic deli-style sandwiches in wolf-size. From their pastrami on marble rye, smoked meat, roast beef to their gourmet hot-dogs (with pulled pork or Rueben), this sandwich shop is every carnivore’s dream. Add a side of coleslaw, potato salad, or a pickle – and you have yourself the classic deli experience with BIG taste.

Ain’t nobody does a bun like Just Braise does a bun. While their sandwiches are out-of-this-world, there is something extra special about their buns. We guarantee you’ve never had one like it. Their braised meat spends hours soaking up unique flavour combinations. From a classic pulled-pork to beef and kimchi (our editor’s fave), the flavour profiles are extensive and range from tangy, spicy, and oh-so-yummy. Not to mention, they also have milkshakes – and not just your typical vanilla or chocolate – try their tiramisu, strawberry shortbread, or chocolate brownie.

At Croissant Express, you’re getting a top-notch sandwich on the best croissants in the GTA. Grilled cheese, veggie, egg salad, turkey, ham – all the classics, served on fresh-baked croissants. Have them cold or hot – toasted until crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Not a fan of the croissant? You can also select other types of bread, such as rye. 

The Coop Wicked Chicken, Burlington

Bottom line – the Coop does chicken and they do chicken WELL. Located on Brant Street in the heart of Burlington, Coop Wicked Chicken is where punk-rock meets rustic henhouse. They’re an 80’s and 90’s inspired nostalgia-loving restaurant, featuring a menu made fresh in-house with only the highest quality ingredients. Their chicken is crave-able and served in a ton of delicious ways. Must-haves: pulled chicken sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, buffalo chicken sandwich – it’s honestly hard to choose. Not to mention their pulled chicken poutine and always a favourite – chicken tacos.  

Corn Beef Hut, Burlington

Also, in the heart of Burlington, Corn Beef Hut serves class deli sandwiches and Vietnamese Banh Mi. You won’t find better Montreal smoked meat or corned beef in town. The sandwiches are served fresh and thick – appearing almost impossible to fit in your mouth. Outside of their classic deli sandwiches, you also have a full menu of Vietnamese Banh Mi. There’s lemongrass tofu topped with mushroom sauce, kalbi beef topped with kimchi, sautéed chicken with creamy peanut-sauce – these sandwiches are one of a kind and a must-try.

Not up for the drive to Burlington? You can find yummy Vietnamese sandwiches in Oakville, too! B Banh Mi is a specialty Vietnamese sandwich shop located just across from the Bronte Go Station. All sandwiches include fresh cucumbers, pickled carrots, daikon radishes, cilantro, jalapenos, a selection of specialty house sauces, all served on a crispy baguette. They have everything from breakfast sandwiches to lunch/dinner style sandwiches served with pork, beef, or chicken. Not to mention their lemongrass tofu and spicy tuna. You certainly won’t find other sandwiches with this type of authentic-Vietnamese spin – and you definitely won’t forget the flavour.
