Sip, Mingle & Shop Handmade this Saturday at Burlington MADE

Looking for something new to discover this weekend? Burlington MADE is taking place this Saturday at the Ron Joyce Centre, and if their last event was any indication, it’ll be a great time for the whole family. Not only is this craft show becoming known for bringing in some of the best talent in the GTA, but there will also be live music, coffee and wine, delicious food, swag bags for the first 50 shoppers, and free children’s crafts hosted by the Art Gallery of Burlington.

Burlington MADE is produced by Stephanie Street Events, which has also hosted smaller pop up shopping events throughout Burlington and is teaming up with the Sound of Music Festival to bring a taste of Burlington MADE to their Downtown Streetfest in June. Event director Stephanie Finn is a maker herself, the owner of Stephanie Street Soap & Skincare, and plans a community food truck festival in her spare time. She says, “being an entrepreneur and a work-at-home mom can be quite a lonely business, so I’m all about building community wherever I can. I wanted to create an event in Burlington that’s more than a typical craft show, where husbands and kids are just as excited to come, to connect with local makers, support each other, and have a blast, too.”

Apparently her vision has caught on—over 200 makers applied for 65 spots at this Saturday’s event. “We’ve had the privilege of curating some amazing artisans for this show,” Stephanie told us. “Several of our vendors have won awards or exhibited at the One of a Kind Show and other highly competitive shows, and we also have some up-and-coming talents that we think show so much promise.”

So whether you’re shopping for Father’s Day, end-of-year teacher gifts, or just looking to spruce up your wardrobe or cottage, come check out some handmade options, support a local artist, and take home something unique with a story to tell.
