If you haven’t heard of it before, Emma’s Back Porch is somewhat of a Burlington institution. Set against the backdrop of Lake Ontario it has a legendary patio and serves up classic pub fare.
Emma’s Back Porch boasts a considerable amount of history for the region, formally known as the Estaminet Standard Hotel dating back to the early 1900’s, and previously owned by Emma Bryens and her husband George. Sticking with the traditional standards of hospitality set by Emma and George, current owner Craig Kowalchuk explains, “ it tells a rich story of hospitality that goes all the way back to 1919. It’s been a big part of Burlington’s history where many events have happened over the years.” And you can still catch events here, including live music on weekends and a fantastic atmosphere for live sports.
Inside, it has a cottagey feel with design accents that make you feel at home. There is cottage inspired fencing separating the bar from the dining area, hockey jerseys on the wall and exposed wood everywhere. Seating is designed so that you can take in the views of the lake.
The service is outstanding at Emma’s and you can’t beat the view. Share your experiences with us below!
