If you’ve been looking for a furry friend to add to the family this is the weekend to do it. Burlington Humane Society is holding an adopt-a-thon with special rates for adult cats! Pick up some great used items at the Oakville Seniors Centre garage sale, some art at ArtWorks Oakville, and health tips at Longos Spring Fair. And of course, on Sunday, May the 4th be with you!

ArtWorks Oakville 15th Annual Juried Art Show, 2302 Bridge Road, Oakville

Visit the ArtWorks 15th Annual Juried Art Show in the Gallery in QEPCCC, at 2302 Bridge Rd in Oakville, to see beautiful art pieces from local artists. It is always an amazing display of emerging talent with art to be enjoyed in the gallery and often available for sale. Artists come from Toronto – Hamilton and beyond in hopes of being selected for this esteemed exhibition. The exhibition runs from April 23 – May 16, 2014. Oakville Seniors Centre annual garage sale, 263 Kerr Street, Oakville

Find YOUR treasure at the annual Oakville Seniors Centre garage sale between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3. Do you have small electronics, housewares, jewellery, pictures, etc. that you don’t want anymore? Drop them off at the Oakville Seniors Centre at 263 Kerr Street on Friday, May 2. No footwear, clothing or luggage, please.

Longo’s Spring Health Fair, 1225 Fairview Street, Burlington

Residents across the GTA can get a healthy head-start to the new season with Longo’s Spring Health Fairs. Customers are invited to meet with a Longo’s Registered Dietitian and Morelli’s Pharmacist for a free 15-minute consultation to answer any health, lifestyle and food-related questions. Families will have the opportunity to meet community health partners to learn tips to stay healthy and avoid allergies this spring. Shoppers are also invited to taste seasonal products.

Historic Cooking Program – Mother’s Day, 2168 Guelph Line Burlington

Treat your mother to a memorable Mother’s Day!  Ireland House at Oakridge Farm is hosting an Historic Cooking Program on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.  Limited to 10 participants, the program will be lead by local culinarian and cooking instructor, Michelle Gatien, author of “The Market Cook”.
