Savage Gardens, Nature’s Ninjas! 680 Plains Road West, Burlington: Feed your senses with the captivating, bizarre, larger-than-life world of carnivorous plants then come face-to-face with animals that harness the wildest defense weaponry on earth! Only at Royal Botanical Gardens, Savage Gardens and Nature’s Ninjas brings two amazing exhibits together with live demonstrations and activities for the whole family!

Sweet Water Season at Crawford Lake, Milton: Starting Saturday, March 2 until April 7. The skill of maple sugar making was learned from Ontario’s First Nations who had been enjoying the tasty treat for generations before European contact. A trip to Crawford Lake will help you step back in time to learn how maple sugar would have been made in an Iroquoian Village over 600 years ago. Sweetwater demonstrations occur through out the day and conclude with a tasty morsel of cornbread soaked in maple syrup. Maple taffy on snow will also be available from 1 until 4 p.m. (weekends and March Break).

117TH Annual Maple Syrup Festival @ Bronte Creek: The Maple Syrup Festival specializes in the late Victorian Era.  The festival centers itself around the homestead which was built in 1899 by the Breckon Family.  Visitors to the park will experience a glimpse of what it must have been like to live on a farm during the turn-of-the-century.

RioCan Oakville Place Presents: “Just Dance 2014” March Break Dance-Off!240 Leighland Avenue: RioCan Oakville Place is inviting everyone in town to take a break from classes for a dance party this March Break, when the centre hosts its ‘Just Dance 2014’ dance-off from March 7th to March 15th. Held in Centre Court, the competition is open to guests of all ages and promises to be a fun and exciting week for contestants and spectators alike.

The Colonial Boys’ 3rd Annual St. Patrick’s Ceilidh, 1124 Guelph Line, Burlington: The Colonial Boys will be holding their 3rd Annual St. Patrick’s Ceilidh on March 15, 2014 from 1 – 5 pm at The Black Bull in Burlington. Entertainment will include live music and Irish Dancers. The event will be family-friendly and is open to people of all ages. Tickets are $10 each; children under 16 are free.

Shamrockin’ Night with The Dog Rescuers, 234 Lakeshore, Oakville, ON: Enjoy an evening with a buffet, Irish Step dancers and a band. We invite you to Go Green and help save a dog’s life! A raffle and auction will be held with all proceeds being donated to The Dog Rescuers Inc. Maple Town at Mountsberg Conservation Area, Milton: March is the month for all things maple and Mountsberg’s Maple Town is open and ready for guests. It has been a cold start to the 2014 season, but a couple of warm days the week of March 10 brought some sap!  Above zero temperatures during the day and frosty nights will bring more sap in the weeks to come. Maple Town will take advantage of this incredible natural phenomenon from March 1 until April 6, 2014.

An Afternoon with Patricia Hegarty, Different Drummer Books, Burlington: 

Patricia Hegarty introduces her stirring new novel set in Ireland of the early 1830s, tracing the life of Liam, one of the countless victims of the English invasion of the Great Famine.Also featured: Irish Music from two brilliant performers – Andrea Battista on violin & Philip Corke on guitar.
