Skate in the Square Grand Opening January 4th in Downtown Oakville!

Finish your holiday break with great family fun at the RBC Skate in the Square Grand Opening in Downtown Oakville. The RBC Skate in the Square presented by the businesses of Downtown Oakville and the support of our generous sponsors is a fun and safe way for the whole family to spend time together. On Saturday there will be live music, tasty treats, fun activities, Olympians and skating from 11-1pm.

Olympians will be at the RBC Skate in the Square Grand Opening to celebrate the new rink in Downtown Oakville. Come down and meet Olympians Becky Kellar-Duke, Maria Jelinek and Don Jackson.

  • Ice hockey gold medalist Becky Kellar-Duke represented Canada in 1998, 2002, 2006 and the 2010 Winter Olympics Games in Ice Hockey, winning three gold medals and one silver medal.
  • Oakville resident and figure skater Maria Jelinek represented Canada with her brother at the 1960 Winter Olympic Games where they placed 4th. They are also the 1961 North American champions and the 1962 World Champions in figure skating.
  • Don Jackson won a bronze medal in the 1962 Winter Olympics and landed the first ever triple lutz in competition, which also landed him a spot in the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame and the Order of Canada.
  • Jeffrey Buttle represented Canada at the 2006 Winter Olympics and won a bronze medal for figure skating. He is also the 2008 world figure skating champion, Four Continents champion and a Canadian champion.
