Onion Scones

Onion Scones

 Simple to prepare scones are totally irresistible and are the perfect accompaniment to your favourite soup.
 
  1 Ontario Onion, chopped
  1 tbsp (15 mL) butter
  2 cups (500 mL) biscuit mix
  1/2 cup (125 mL) shredded Ontario Old Cheddar Cheese
  1/2 tsp (2 mL) coarse black pepper
  1/2 cup (125 mL) milk

In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine onion and butter; microwave on High (100%) power for 2 to 3 minutes or until onion is softened. Stir in biscuit mix, cheese and pepper. Stir in milk (just enough to make soft dough).

Knead on lightly floured surface several times. Pat or roll dough into a 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick circle. Cut into 8 wedges.

Place wedges on non-stick baking sheet and bake in 450Β°F (230Β°C) oven 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Serve warm.
