Family Day Activities in Oakville and Burlington

Family Day long weekend offers a nice break in what seems like an otherwise long stretch between Christmas and Easter. For those looking for some activity to enjoy with their children, check out some these ways to spend the day:


Family Day Fun Skate
Join MPP Eleanor McMahon for a FREE Family Day Fun Skate at Burlington Central Arena and complimentary hot chocolate. All are welcome.

Conservation Halton

Get out for a breath of frosty fresh air at any of our local parks. Hike, snowshoe, bird watch, play in the snow, listen to stories beside a campfire, hop on a horse-drawn sleigh or wagon ride, enjoy the outdoors and bring your camera. Check individual park sites to find out what what’s going on at each one.

Zip up to Glen Eden for tubing and downhill skiing (day or night).

Rotary Centennial Pond offers a beautiful waterfront view while you skate.

Ireland House’s Family Day Heritage Open House will have tours of the home, sample food cooked on the historic Rumford hearth, and participate in outdoor activities.

See The Big Freeze at The RBG. Get all of your questions about the ice age answered! The Big Freeze is a cool exhibit experience with two special exhibitions and daily, family-friendly activities where visitors of all ages can explore the past and learn about the future.


Spend Family Day at Bronte Creek: Visit the Nature Centre for live animals, hands-on activities, crafts and more. Other park attractions include Children’s Playbarn, farm animals, tobogganing hill and trails. Program participation and the other facilities mentioned are included in regular Daily Vehicle rates.

Presented by Genworth Canada, Town of Oakville, Oakville Public Library, the YMCA of Oakville and community partners will be celebrating celebrate Family Day. The Town of Oakville’s ninth annual Make Your Move Family Day will once again offer a full slate of free activities and special events for all ages and abilities on Monday, February 20.

Free swims and skates sponsored by Boston Pizza Dundas & Neyagawa
The recreational swim admission standards apply to all free swims. Wristband policy will be in effect. Wristbands for admission to all combo and leisure swims will be available starting at 8:30am at program locations.
