Taste of Burlington: Winter 2016

Taste of Burlington crowns “Best Taste” & “People’s Choice” @ Winter Launch Event!

Burlington restaurateurs are proud to announce “A Taste of Burlington” will be running again this winter from February 21 – March 13, 2016. To kick things off and provide diners an opportunity to experience a taste of what to expect, the Taste of Burlington held our launch event at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre on February 8.

350 guests and media had an opportunity to meet many of our participating restaurateurs at their interactive food stations and try amazing cuisine. Our friends from Cameron’s Brewing Co. sampled their award winning craft beers, Lakehouse Coffee House kept the crowd caffeinated with their amazing organic, fair-trade coffees and Bodhi Bar kept it healthy with their cold pressed organic juices and smoothies.

In what has now become a tradition and a source of pride for our restaurants, we continued our friendly competition between the restaurants with Chefs vying hard for the title of “Best Taste” and “People’s Choice” winner. All guests were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite restaurant based on the cuisine they were serving. The popular vote would be crowned “People’s Choice” and “Best Taste would be determined by our panel of celebrity judges. Our judges, Darrin

Laidman, LeeAnne Whitehouse, Colleen Rusholme & Samantha Payne (95.3 Fresh FM), and Elise Copps sampled the fare of the 13 launch restaurants and score them based on taste, creativity and presentation. In this category the combined judge’s scores were used to determine the winner.

The Chefs brought their “A” game and the votes were tight wowing everyone in attendance. We are excited to announce that Chef Eric Hipkiss of Queen’s Head Pub not only secured the “People’s Choice award but also the “Best Taste” with his steak and wild mushroom wellington drizzled with a Gorgonzola and double smoked bacon cream sauce.
