The City of Burlington is hosting its award-winning annual Children’s Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16 in Spencer Smith Park. This year’s festival features a sports theme.
“Award-winning events such as Burlington’s Children’s Festival contribute to our livable, vibrant city,” said Mayor Rick Goldring. “This free event at Burlington’s scenic waterfront encourages children to be active, and helps create an outdoor experience for the whole family.”
Residents are invited to participate in sports-themed fun as Tim Hortons presents Burlington’s 24th annual Children’s Festival with sports activities, meet-and-greet opportunities, face-painting, balloon artists and a children’s marketplace and food court.
The Children’s Festival takes place in Burlington’s Spencer Smith Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Themed around sports, children can enjoy a number of activities and shows on the CHCH Stage:
- Bubble Force activity
- Meet and Greet from 1:30 to 4 p.m. with Toronto Maple Leaf’s legend Wendel Clark, sponsored by Safari Children’s Dentistry
- Interactive DJ Show
- Jungle Jack Show
- Kids’ Marketplace
- Play Zones
“In the spirit of the Pan Am/Parapan Games, we’re pleased to offer a free day of sports-themed fun and activities,” said Chris Glenn, the city’s director of parks and recreation. “Thanks to the support of community partners and sponsors, we’re able to present an award-winning event for the community and the opportunity to introduce various sports to children and their families.”
