On July 1, Juno Nominee and teenzFAV Award Winner, Vita Chambers will perform at 3pm at Burlington’s Canada Day celebration in Spencer Smith Park.
“Canada Day in Burlington is a fantastic occasion for the community to come together and celebrate our great nation,” said Mayor Rick Goldring. “This award-winning event has many fabulous entertainers and activities for residents and visitors to Burlington to enjoy.”
Pre-event activities include the Canada Day 5K Run and 1K Kids Run at 8:30am and a free yoga class at 9:30am led by Beth Rutty.
A Citizenship Court will swear in new Canadian residents at 9:30am at the Gazebo, followed by a private reception for the new residents and their families with the mayor and members of council.
The opening ceremonies, featuring the Burlington Teen Tour Band, start at 1pm on the Main Stage presented by Canadian Tire – Burlington Stores.
This year’s free celebration features Canadian entertainment on stage and throughout the park all day.
Performances by White Pine Dancers, Jessica Mitchell, Mystic Drumz, Devin Moody (Twitter Contest Winner), and Johannes Linstead
Headliner Vita Chambers at 3 p.m. on the Canadian Tire Main Stage
Scholars in Collars dog training performances at 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Symphony on the Bay at 9 p.m. and accompanying the fireworks at 10 p.m.
A wide variety of food vendors and activities.
Parking downtown during this event is in high demand, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early or use public or alternative transportation.
A free shuttle service runs from noon to 11 p.m. It will run from Haber Recreation Centre to The Burlington Performing Arts Centre and stop at Mainway Recreation Centre and the Burlington GO Station in the north parking lot of Queensway Drive. A bike corral will be available near the Waterfront Hotel for cyclists to lock up their bikes.
This is the 25th annual Canada Day Celebration hosted by the City of Burlington. Burlington’s Canada Day Celebrations is proud to receive the Festivals and Events Ontario Top 100 event award for the fourth year in a row.
