Burlington Downtown Launches Summer Events Season with Fit in the Core!

Burlington, ON – May 19, 2015

Spending your Sunday in downtown Burlington is about to get a boost. The wildly popular, weekly, open-air fitness classes called Fit in the Core launches on Sunday May 24, 2015 and will kick off the summer event season downtown.
Now in its’ third year, Fit in the Core is a free one-hour class lead by the fitness and wellness experts from downtown. The series features everything from muscle blast to yoga, pilates and Zumba. Classes are held every Sunday from May 24th to August 23rd from 10 am to 11 am in Civic Square outside City Hall.  All that is required is a mat and a water bottle.
“Fit in the Core has become one of our most popular ongoing programs downtown,” said Brian Dean, General Manager of the Burlington Downtown Business Association. “On any given Sunday Civic Square is brimming with the young, the old, and everyone in between enjoying the great outdoors under the expert leadership of our fitness professionals.”
The 2015 season will launch with a Muscle Blast class lead by Tread Powerfully. Owner, Sue Abell, and her team of instructors have planned a mix of functional cardio and body-weighted muscle for all ages and fitness levels set to upbeat music. Abell’s power walking and conditioning business has used downtown Burlington as its’ outdoor gym since 2008.
“Fit in the Core has been a great way to build a community downtown,” said Brian Dean. “After class, we encourage participants to enjoy breakfast or a coffee, take in the Centro market and visit our retail shops.”
