TD Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival receives Celebrate Ontario Grant

The 2015 TD Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival is a proud recipient of $27,000 from the Province of Ontario through the Celebrate Ontario grant program. The festival is the only event in Oakville to receive the Celebrate Ontario Grant.

This year the funds from the Celebrate Ontario Grant will be used to enhance the overall festival programming to help generate a larger economic impact in the community and attract more tourists to Oakville. This year’s festival enhancements include a Kids Fun Zone, Mitch Frohman Children’s Musical Workshops and a ticketed headliner concert on Thursday, August 6th at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.

“It’s fantastic to have Celebrate Ontario’s support in helping us provide, not only exceptional artists, but increasing opportunities for youth to participate.  An example will be this year’s week long workshop with saxophone great Mitch Frohman of Tito Puente fame, rehearsing with 23 young artists and forming an orchestra to headline on one of the main stages,” said Ronnie Brown, Chair of the TD Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival Committee. “This will be an experience of a lifetime for these emerging young artists!”

This year the festival is proud to announce performances by Quinn Sullivan, Mitch Frohman, Bria Skonberg, Samantha Martin and Delta Sugar and Boxcar Boys. With many more artists to be announced.

The TD Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival is brought to you by the Downtown Oakville Business Improvement Area in partnership with our generous sponsors: TD Canada Trust, Province of Ontario, Bell Canada, Khachi Design Group, Jacox Harley-Davidson, Acura of Oakville, and Merriam School of Music.
