On November 29th Downtown will be a sea of yellow, including the Burlington Pier, to support local businesses.
Burlington, ON – Just in time for the holidays, Burlington Downtown is celebrating with Shop The Neighbourhood Day on Saturday November 29th. Downtown businesses will be offering exclusive promotions for the one-day celebration that is the wrap up to the nation-wide Shop The Neighbourhood campaign.
Shop The Neighbourhood is a national campaign, initiated in 2013 by the Yellow Pages Group (YPG), to support and highlight the contribution of Canada’s small businesses to the enrichment of neighbourhoods and local economies. The Shop The Neighbourhood day is strategically positioned on the busiest shopping weekend of the year – wedged between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
“Downtown Burlington is painting the town yellow again this year for Shop The Neighbourhood, including the Burlington Pier which will be fiery yellow for the day and into the evening,” said Brian Dean, general manager, the Burlington Downtown Business Association (BDBA). “We invite everyone to come and enjoy the day in our community, as our businesses say thank you with special promotions.
More than 60 downtown Burlington businesses are showing their support with Shop the Neighbourhood decals in storefront windows. Dean continues, “This is a very important day for our downtown community as it’s not just about shopping, but a way of highlighting that when we support local, homegrown business, everyone prospers.”
Retail shops, restaurants, spas, fitness and wellness centres, and professional services are all participating and their promotions will be posted at shoptheneighbourhood.ca
“Show off your yellow shopping bags and you may also be rewarded with on-the-spot prizing,” said Dean. “Several of our restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops are offering great deals on Saturday as well. Be sure to follow us on Twitter @DTBurlingtonON to get up to the minute news.”
