HAMILTON ON – Wigglers and Wagglers have been changing the lives of animals in need for years and will walk for the animals again on Sunday September 7th.
“This year is very special”, says Pam Jamieson, Adoption Associate at the HBSPCA. “The Wiggle Waggle Walk and Splash celebrates 25 years of raising funds to protect, care for and rehome neglected and homeless animals.”
Pam, who recently celebrated her own 25th anniversary with the HBSPCA, remembers when it all began. In 1990, the HBSPCA was looking for new and fun ways to raise funds for the animals, and the Wiggle Waggle was born. “It’s all for the animals,” Pam goes on to say, and “year after year, rain or shine, Wiggle Waggle lives on.”
When Pam is asked which furry friend she is walking for, she doesn’t miss a beat. “I’m walking with my HBSPCA rescue dog, Winnie. But we are walking for Mouse and Peter Parker. These two dogs are being treated for heartworm by the HBSPCA and it will be some time yet before they are ready for their new home.”
Now in partnership with the Hamilton Conservation Authority and Wild Waterworks, Wiggle Waggle Walk & Splash features a 5km walk, a doggie pool party, live music, and some of Hamilton’s favourite food trucks. Registration opens at 10am and the walk for the animals will start at 11am. Go to hbspca.com for registration, pledge forms and event information.
The Hamilton/Burlington SPCA protects animals from people, cares for animals in its Companion Animal Hospital, kennels and foster homes and teaches responsible pet ownership. The HBSPCA is a donor-based, private non-profit charity.
